Commissioner of Police, Edo State, Mr Mohammed Dankwara, has sent strong signal to hoodlums to relocate from the state or face the full wrath of the law: “We arrested 25 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers who were in possession of firearms. They were dealt with in their hideouts in various parts of the state.
“The command is ready to fight the criminals. I have charged my officers to wake up from their slumber and face the security challenges confronting us. We need the support of the traditional rulers, community leaders, market women, religious leaders, vigilante groups and local hunters with other security agencies to ensure safety of lives and properties in the state.
“We need the support of the state government to provide operation vehicles with which to fight the hoodlums and send them packing from the state.
“The Divisional Police, Agbede and vigilante groups arrested four suspected armed robbers with unlawful possession of firearms. Arms recovered from them included one cut-to-size locally made pistol with breech no CAL 45acp.
“The suspects are Umar, Saviour, Edeh and Monday. All the arrested suspects reside at the back of Wonder City, South lbie. Operatives arrested other suspected kidnappers terrorising motorists on the Benin/Agbor Expressway and Benin /Ore Expressway.
“They were arrested when they were making an attempt to carry out operation. Police foiled the operation and arrested the suspects
“The suspects confessed to the policemen. They will soon be charged to court for prosecution.”
