ABIBAT Adjoto, abducted mother of Edo lawmaker, Kabiru Adjoto has reportedly escaped from her abductors’ den. The 68-year-old mother of the three-term lawmaker in the state House of Assembly was abducted by gunmen last Thursday.
But information from Edo State police command yesterday revealed that she escaped from her abductors.
Mrs. Adjoto was said to have been seized from her residence at Ikakumo village in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.
Her abductors who reportedly invaded the village were also said to have kidnapped one of the woman’s adopted sons, whose name could not be verified.
It was learnt that the kidnappers invaded Ikakumo about 1am and shot sporadically for about two hours apparently to scare the villagers.
The lawmaker, Kabiru Adjoto, however, declined to comment on the incident.
A family member who pleaded anonymity said the kidnappers beat their victims before they forcefully took them away.
“They came to our village and started shooting. They took mama away and one of her sons,” the family source said.
