The Edo State Police Command has arrested 105 suspected criminals in the last three months.
Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Dankwara, during his maiden press briefing in Benin, yesterday, the breakdown, saying that 30 out of the suspects, were kidnappers,22 robbers, and, 36 cultists.
Other suspects included: two murder suspects; six attempted murder suspects, 20, for theft, 10 for gun running, and one for unlawful possision of firearms.
He further disclosed that five AK 47 riffles, 105 cartridge, seven live ammunition, 10 vehicles,and the sum of N1.2 million, were recovered from the suspects during the period under review.
Dankwara, who refused to comment on the high profile individuals involved in the Igueben train station attack, said it was too premature to speak on it, adding that three more suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack.
He said: “Well, it is true, we have high profile people with us, but it will be premature for me to speak on that since we are still Investigating. like yesterday too, we arrested additional three suspects;those that partook in that train attack.So it will be unwise on my part to begin to divulge security information.
“No ransom was paid for the release of the rescued victims. To the best of my knowledge, those people were rescued by my men”.
On Saturday January 7, 20 passengers, waiting to board a train at the Igueben station in the state, were kidnapped by gunmen and taken into the bush.
