Edo State Police Command yesterday, paraded different gangs of notorious armed robbers and serial killers responsible for last week’s  killings of former Etsako East Local Government Area Chairman, Suleiman Afegbua and Pastor Godwin Akpoguenabor.
According to the police, the gangs were also responsible for the killing of a business woman, Patience Ediri Omo Osagie, after robbing her of N150, 000.
The commissioner of police said the  suspects, who allegedly shot and killed the chief Imam of Egbeta, in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, have been identified and are being trailed. He  gave their names as  Ajitena, Saheed and  Ajiboye.
The CP said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was killed by the three suspects over a quarrel.
Mallam Afolabi was on his way to the mosque, in the early hours of Saturday, when he was shot dead, in the presence of his two sons. He was shot in the chest, leading to his death.
One of his sons, who  witnessed the killing, Mutiu Afolabi, said three boys accosted them and pointed  torchlight on their faces before shooting his father.
The commissioner of police said the suspects, upon completion of investigations, would be charged to court accordingly.
He called on residents of the state to furnish the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of various criminal elements, in order to make the state a safe haven.
He said the police cannot do it alone, but depend on members of the society to succeed in the fight against crimes and criminality in the state.
In the same vein, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu  Mohammed, yesterday  urged the newly promoted police officers to see their elevation as a call to duty, considering the current security challenges in the country.
He gave the charge while decorating  49 newly promoted officers in Benin City, Edo State capital.
