…Resigns as state varsity’s pro-chancellor, Council chair

From: WOLE BALOGUN, Ado-Ekiti

The furore that greeted the adoption of Kolapo Olusola, deputy to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State as preferred candidate to fly the banner of the Peoples’ democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s gubernatorial election in the state got messier, on Thursday, as Chairman of the Council of the Ekiti State University, Dayo Adeyeye, resigned his appointment as Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Council of the university.

Adeyeye, who is the National Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee of the PDP, was appointed into that office by Governor Fayose.

Adeyeye’s resignation came on the heels of the adoption of Olusola as sole candidate of the PDP on Wednesday, a development that was greeted with criticism from other aspirants on the party’s platform.

When called for reactions to Adeyeye’s resignation, Special Adviser to Governor Fayose on Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka, declined official comments on the development and referred the reporter to the University’s management.
