From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
The impeached speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Gboyega Aribisogan, has vowed to fight his suspension by some legislators in the state.
He argued that impeachment can not stand because it was carried out illegally.
Speaking on a radio station in Osogbo, Rave FM, on Tuesday, Aribisogan insisted that he remains the speaker of the assembly, saying “what took place was a charade and out of order.”
He alleged that the police in connivance with the former Governor, Kayode Fayemi, opened the assembly for some legislators around 6am, contrary to the rules of the house to begin seating at 10am.
He said, “I want to say that whatever happens amounts to illegality and it stands as illegal. I am still the bonafide and legal speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly. There was no impeachment. What took place was a charade and out of order.
“In a standing order the house sits at 10 but this person elected to sit at 6 o’clock and they were only 7. It was former governor Fayemi that was calling other members to go and meet them at the assembly when eventually they barricaded the place with the police and they are only identifying Honourable members to go and take photographs with the so call and purported speaker which they elected illegally.

“We must fight the violation of the Constitution. We must fight this strangulation which Dr Fayemi want to put on Ekiti State. I don’t see it as a personal fight. It is to prove that Ekiti people have value,” Aribisogan added.
