Over 80 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultist have been arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command.

Stolen vehicles and 20 arms and ammunition were equally recovered.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, told Daily Sun that the command with the NDLEA operatives raided black spots and hideouts to effect the arrests.

Similarly, 87 suspects were nabbed and 65 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and charms were recovered.

“The Safer Highways patrol team on the Ido-Ifaki Ekiti Road was attacked by some hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons. The team recovered one black Golf car with marked Lagos APP 448 DS conveying 14 goats suspected to be stolen. The suspect, Bashiru, was arrested with bullet wound and taken to hospital.

“The Special Anti-Robbery (SARS) operatives arrested four gunmen at Odo, Ado-Ekiti. The robbers stole a black Toyota Camry with registration number LND 118 EA valued at N1.5 million and one Infinix phone. The suspects were tracked at Isua-Akoko in Ondo State and arrested. The operatives arrested three motorcycle snatchers at Atikankan, Ado Ekiti and recovered four motorcycles.”

The CP added that the command campaign, “Change begins with me” was to make the police practice community policing where the police and public would have good relationship to smoke criminal out of the state.

“The command has built good relationship with public that a police man is a friend and bail is free. In 2016, the command had an initiative geared towards security of life and property, regular patrol and surveillance of black spots. It yielded good results especially in the ‘ember’ months. In 2017, the command will do its best to get rid of criminals in the state.”
