Prominent leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State have unanimously applauded Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for entrenching peace, tranquility and good governance in a manner that has never been experienced in the history of the state.

The PDP chieftains, including the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, former governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, Senator Fidelis Okoro, Senator Hyde Onuaguluchi and Ambassador Mrs. Justina Eze, described governor Ugwuanyi as a man of history, and expressed delight that he has united everybody in the state, irrespective of political leanings.

The leaders made the commendation at the country home of governor Ugwuanyi, during the party’s programme, held at Udenu Local Government Area headquarters, ahead of tomorrow’s governorship and state assembly elections.

In his speech, Senator Ekweremadu said because of the peace in the state Senator Nwobodo, for the first in the history of the state, joined other PDP leaders to witness the closing ceremony of the party’s campaign.

Nwobodo said Ugwuanyi’s contributions, which ensured that the Rangers International Football Club of Enugu won a trophy after 32 years, was also one of his greatest achievements. He said: “Ugwuanyi is doing well because his name is Ifeanyichukwu.”

Senator Onuaguluchi, equally eulogised the governor for the “uncommon peace” he brought to the state and noted that “all of us have come to learn from Gburugburu (Ugwuanyi).”

Meanwhile, three political parties in Enugu State have denied the allegation by the factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Ben Nwoye, and Director-General of Senator Ayogu Eze campaign organisation, KGB Oguakwa, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) plans to hand over electoral materials to the PDP, ahead of tomorrow’s elections.

Chairman of the PDP, Augustine Nnamani said: “It is shameful and an insult on the people of Enugu State that a party (APC), whose ambition is clearly in disarray could come out to make such outlandish and regrettable allegation.”
