As more reactions continued to trail the defection of the former Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), youths in the state, under the aegis of Akubaroha Youth Assembly have described the former governor’s exit as a good omen for the party.

The youths further accused the former governor of being an agent of the APC even while still serving as governor on the platform of the PDP.

Leader of Akubaroha Youth Assembly and Youth leader of PDP in Ebonyi State, Mark Onu said the party had nothing to fear over the former governor’s defection, describing him a serial betrayer.

Onu said Elechi’s defection was not a new thing especially when he accused the former governor of staying in PDP and working against the party in the last election.

In the words of Onu,  “It is not a new thing that he defected, he was never been with us, as a PDP governor, Elechi worked against the party, so we are used to his anti party activities even while in the party”

“It is even good that he has finally bowed out on his own and it is a good omen for the PDP because his exit has further vindicated us as a political party that he was a mole in APC even as a serving governor on the platform of PDP. Elechi was the only PDP governor that criticised our former President Goodluck Jonathan’s policies especially his statement against national confab which he described as huge joke and waste of time”

“He is not even a threat in any way, the youths of Ebonyi state have said it over and over again that never shall we allow such elements to drag us back now that Governor David Umahi has obliterated the cog in the wheels of our development by developing all sectors of the state economy simultaneously. There is no gainsaying the fact that Umahi remains the only governor that remembered the youths, evident in his appointment of over 300 Senior Technical Assistants and Technical Assistants and the youth empowerment scheme.”

The Youth leader further disclosed that nobody can pose as threat to governor Umahi’s reelection in 2019, adding “the youths have vowed to stand by Governor Umahi and nobody will be a threat to his second term not because of saying sake but because there is no alternative to Umahi in 2019”.
