Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has called on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies to be fair and balanced in the conduct of the forthcoming general elections.
Agbaje made the call, on Sunday, at the Lord Chosen Charismatic Ministry’s crusade titled: From Sorrow to Joy, which took place at the church’s International Headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos. He expressed hope that the agencies responsible for bringing about fair, balanced and credible elections would live up to the expectations of Nigerians.
“We expect that INEC and the security agencies are going to be fair and balanced, and that the security agencies are going to do their work well, rather than be seen as aiding one political party or the other.”
Agbaje also called on the political class to see the forthcoming elections as something that must be done well so that Nigerian democracy should move forward.
“We cannot run our democracy based on rigging; it must not be based on violence. It is important that we allow our people to come out and vote; let the will of the people be done. There were mistakes in the past, but the next election is an opportunity to correct them….”
Agbaje who visited the Lord’s Chosen to be part of the revival programme and 16th anniversary of the ministry was optimistic that, Lagos State, and Nigeria, will move from sorrow to joy. “I am a Christian first, and when you look at the programme of this event ‘From Sorrow to Joy,’ it’s very instructive. To listen to testimonies of those who have moved from sorrow to joy…”
