The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has engaged 21,000 adhoc staff for the February 25 and March 11 elections in Borno State. 

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Alhaji Magaji Ibrahim, disclosed yesterday in an interactive session with journalists in Maiduguri. 

He said the staff will be deployed to the 312 wards and units in the 27 local governments in the state.

“Borno have a total of 2,513,281 registered voters from 2011 to date and balance of 91,584 uncollected PVCs , 77, 050 transfers, replacement and lost PVCs out of which 62, 797 have so far been  collected and balance of 14, 255 PVCs  remains uncollected,” he disclosed.

He said the poling units will be opened between 8’30am and 2:30 pm. He assured any eligible voter  on the queue before 2:30pm would be allow to vote. He said adequate security arrangements have been  concluded for hitch  free poll. 

He said the commission has received sensitive and non sensitive election materials in the state. 

“Both sensitive and non sensitive materials have been received by the state including a total of 5,071 Bio-Modal  Voters Accreditation System (BVAs) machines with additional back up. We have been aldo discussing with the security agencies on daily basis,” he disclosed.
