Following the public holiday declared by the Federal government, the United States Embassy, Abuja, and the Consulate General, Lagos, will not render services during the break.
The United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria, in a statement by its Public Affairs Section, said those who already have a regular visa or American Citizen Services (ACS) appointment on Friday would be contacted for rescheduling.
Recall that the Federal government declared Friday, February 22, 2019, work-free day in order to allow Nigerians to prepare for the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly Elections holding on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

“In recognition of this declaration and to encourage all our Nigerian employees to exercise their right to vote, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will be closed. No consular services will be available. If you already have a regular visa or ACS appointment for that date, you will be contacted for rescheduling,” the United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria said.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has said as a staunch supporter of the nation’s democracy, it will continue to support the 2019 elections.
The UK made its position known in a message on its Facebook page, adding that it was redeploying observers for the elections.
“The British High Commission remains a staunch supporter of Nigeria’s democracy and will continue to support the 2019 elections, including through redeploying our observer team to observe the elections taking place on February 23, 2019,” the UK said.
