The people of Abia North have continued to express joy as the sensitization team headed by Rev. Mrs. Jumima Ola Kalu, the Executive Secretary of the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation moves from local government to local government in Abia North Senatorial zone.
The people of Isuikwuato local government were full of appreciation as the petty traders’ loan forms were recently distributed to men, women and youths who felt abandoned by the government. The loan scheme, first in Abia state by a private individual, they say, will definitely bring hope to the petty traders in the various wards in the three senatorial zones of Abia state.
According to, Rev. Mrs. Jumima Ola Kalu, the loan, patterned after the Asian model is being evenly distributed and given irrespective of political party membership or affiliation. The loan scheme which will be a continuous process will definitely aid in alleviating poverty in the villages, she added.
In Abiriba, Nkporo and Ohafia people were seen shedding tears of joy with shout of praises for Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu for using his foundation to touch the lives of poor folks in the rural areas. One of the beneficiaries, Onyekachi Okarazi from Ohafia expressed joy that she will now be able to engage fully in her make-up / make-over business. In her own appreciation, Mrs. Ngozi Uwom said that the scheme will revive her road side canteen business.
According to Mr. Maduka Okoro, a media aide to Dr. Uzor Kalu, he said seeing people waiting till late evening to embrace the petty traders scheme goes a long way in proving the love the grassroots have for Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who is determined to keep hope alive for the people of Abia state. “I believe that if we could produce a number of people like Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, Abia and Nigeria at large will be better”, he added.
