Abdulrazaq Mungadi, Gombe
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has explained that while youths were on streets protesting and agitating for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) across the country, Gombe was for pro-SARS, Police and Security.
According to him was exempted from the saga which resulted to breaking and looting of governments and private property, because the state was conscious of the need for peace  and harmony. ” That was what made it possible for us to contain our youths,” the governor stated.
Governor stated this on Friday, while receiving the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police in charge of operations DIG Lawan Shehu, who was at the government house on a courtesy visit. He said: “The anti SARS rally that was held across the country with the resulting effect of looting, theft and thuggery has pushed us to put more emphasis to support security agencies to deliver on the essential mandate that given to them”.
“In Gombe we didn’t have any serious challenge not because we are not part of the country but because we are very conscious of the need to be in peace and harmony, so instead of #EndSARS our own rally was pro-SARS, pro security and pro-police and pro-government,” Governor Yahaya explained.
