Entrepreneurial maven, Femi Otedola is not your-run-of-the-mill individual. His pedigree and belief in serving for the sake of uplifting mankind have inspired many to greatness. What words would be written or accolade more suitable to a man whose life is of divine influence to many? When on Friday, November 4, this quintessential businessman reached the milestone age of 60, he was celebrated to high heavens. On this day, encomiums, commendations and eulogies were literally poured on him by those who had encountered him. And it was understandable why they went that route to celebrate the Lagos-born business mogul. Otedola has always showcased his shrewdness and brilliance. He is not just a successful investor but also a dedicated philanthropist who has been using his legacies to engrave his name in gold.

While doing all these, Otedola never compromised on his well-being and that of his family. They live in opulence and style like a top member of the moneyed class who never wavers in the tiniest of details that concern their well-being. To celebrate his 60th birthday, Otedola has chosen not to go the way of a typical Nigerian celebrating such a milestone. The gangling billionaire settled for a three-week celebration with his immediate family on an iconic super yacht. Spotlight learnt that Otedola has shelled out about €3million (N1.2billion official rate) to hire the Aristotle Onassis luxury yacht. The iconic yacht —named Christina and owned by the late Greek billionaire shipping magnate, Aristotle Onassis— costs a staggering €750,000 per week and it comes complete with every amenity that makes life worthwhile. The yacht has a master suite, 18-passenger staterooms, and numerous indoor and outdoor living areas, all connected by a spiral staircase. Otedola and his family would visit the typical cruising regions of the yacht like Antigua, Bahamas, Cuba, Mykonos, Ibiza, Saint Martin, St Barts, Virgin Islands and Costa Rica among others.

As a strategic investor and business titan, Otedola, in his 60 years, has had his entrepreneurial grit and wit written, albeit, with bold letters. The shrewd investor and ebullient Executive Chairman of Geregu Power Plc, has been a continual source of inspiration to those who have eyes for good things while also channeling his successes to provide generous contributions to a wide array of local and national projects. As he joined the Senior Citizen club, Otedola, like an elephant with gigantic footprints, is said to still hold strongly to the philosophy of Albert Pike that what we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.
