Every year, HR Expo Africa provides a platform where HR practitioners and professionals from other industries across the world converge to engage in meaningful conversations on human capital development and gather great ideas that will boost productivity and organization performance.
One thing that binds them together is the need for human resources to execute and deliver on business goals.
This year, the two days event which held at Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island, Lagos on the 4 and 5th of April was tagged ‘ The Art Of Employee Engagement’.
Speaking at the conference, Erefar Coker, a Human Resource Strategy consultant and founder of HR Expo Africa, enlightened Nigerian businesses and organisations owners on how to pay more attention to their human resources by way of training and retraining to ensure optimal performance of their organizations.
She said: “Our goal is to bring global perspectives, global speakers because ideally an HR conference is very expensive. So we thought why not bring it to Lagos and have own fantastic speakers alongside. We teach HR Managers on how to manage people so when they go back they would have new thoughts, new minds on how to manage their employees. HR Expo believes learning is continual and people need to learn how to manage human resources well.”
Continuing, Ms Coker emphasized that the importance of HR can’t be overlooked at different sectors of the society hence the importance to talk about it giving it exposure on what it is about and how it can help mould the affairs of a company properly.
“This is a dream we have, based on our passion to have effective HR management in Nigeria. International conferences like this are happening all over the world and we don’t have it in the country. We deem it necessary to have such expo to be in tune with global trend. We intend to bring the knowledge home, bring in international speakers to Nigeria to share the global knowledge about best practice in HR experience in workplace.
This year the theme is The Art of Employees Engagement and we had about forty sessions with a corresponding amount of speakers. And there were so much each participants took out of the summit.”
