Media personality and founder of Visibility Solutions Media, Kehinde Ajose has averred that ex-BBNaija lockdown housemate, Erica Nlewedim ought to have apologized to Laycon, the winner of the 2020 lockdown edition of BBNaija.

According to the pop culture enthusiast, fame is fickle and at the end of the day  the man in the mirror is the one, you have to  deal with after the social media hype and comments.

“Erica is a young Nigerian lady who has amazingly done well for herself after BBNaija. Her brand consistency and passion for her craft as an entertainer and brand influencer is worth emulating. However, her refusal to apologize to Laycon during the reunion show isn’t good enough. It’s like we are quick to forget that she wasn’t disqualified for nothing. She was disqualified for breaking the house rules, bullying, provocation and engaging with the production crew. She used some derogatory words on him before her disqualification and even referred to him as a snake during the reunion show.Erica has a huge fan base and she can never go wrong in their eyes. Truth is the fans just want to be entertained. They don’t care about her in the long run. Asking Laycon to initiate a conversation with her after all she said to him isn’t the right way to go.She owes him an apology, they don’t necessarily have to be close friends”.

Asked about the costly mistakes entertainers make when it comes to their career, Ajose who doubles an author said:”You need to be teachable. When you allow fame get into your head and refuse to keep honing your craft and get better, you lose relevance. To lose relevance is one of the scariest things an entertainer must not be caught in. I have consulted for and interviewed several talented showbiz personalities who were not able to profit from their talent because they only focused on the talent and ignored the part of the business. What Don Jazzy, M.I, Banky W sells is more than music. These showbiz personalities have grown to become strong bankable brands. Their relevance is not tied to releasing music every now and then. People may love your music, but it won’t get you all the attention you need. A Naira Marley is less talented than a Wizkid or a Burna Boy. How then was he able to brand himself to national acclaim? It is a result of a well thought out content creation strategy. Attention is the currency of show-business. When you stop getting the attention of your audience, you lose relevance”.
