The 14-year-old Ese, who hails from Ughelli North Council Area of Delta State, was abducted in Bayelsa State and taken to Kano State where she was converted to Islam and forcibly married by Yunusa, who impregnated her.

Yunusa has been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Yenagoa, presided over by Justice Nganjiwa on a five-count charge bordering on criminal abduction, illicit sex, sexual exploitation and unlawful carnal knowledge.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah said Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his government were irrevocably committed to the total rehabilitation and integration of Ese into the society.

Other members of the delegation were Commissioner, Special Duties (Government House), Henry Siakpra; Chief of Staff (Government House), Asaba, Mr. Tam Brisibe and the member representing Patani in Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Timi Tonye.

According to the statement, Ukah conveyed the appreciation of the Delta State government to Bayelsa State government and the state police command for adequately taking care of Miss Oruru at the Police Officers’ Mess in Yenagoa.

Earlier on arrival in Yenagoa, the delegation had visited the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah, where Mr. Brisibe disclosed that the delegation was sent by Governor Okowa, to ascertain how Ese was recovering.
