As Nigeria celebrates Democracy Day tomorrow, the  Eze Ndigbo Ghana and Assistant Publicity Secretary Association of Ndieze Ndigbo in Diaspora, HRM Eze Chukwudi Ihenetu has urged President Muhammadu Buhari- led Federal government to use June 12 as a plank to launch national reconciliation  conference, which will eventually heal the marginalisation and agitation wounds cause by bad governance in the country.

In a statement, the royal father  said June 12, a day set aside to honor the late democratic icon, Chief MKO Abiola and subsequently adopted as Democracy Day should be used as a day to wave olive branch by  convoking national reconciliation dialogue which could return peace to the land.

While lamenting that 6 years of this administration has seen the country suffering infrastructural deficit and poor governance, he said the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow are worst hit as most of them in search of elusive jobs have embarked on trips abroad where they were subjected to humiliation.

While commending the federal government over comisisioning of Lagos Ibadan rail line, HRM Ihenetu said the effort was like a drop of water in the ocean as most part of the country remain without good roads. He said the nation will only shout eureka if all the regions are connected by rail lines and complimented with good road networks.

On the civil service, the royal father explained that corruption is still very high eventhough this administration in the last 6 years had pledged zero tolerance for corruption. “Things like this ridicule our country before the international community”, he said.

There is hardly any day you won’t read about mayhem with loss of life and property in Nigeria. Under such circumstances, no sane person would think of investing home,” he said.
