AN explosion rocked the Stade de France in Paris – hours before France played Iceland in the Euro 2016 quarter-final yesterday.

Police were believed to have carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect vehicle outside the stadium.

Fans arriving for the match heard the bang at around 5.30pm (local time).

Local reports suggested support­ers were stopped from entering the stadium by police.

Tensions ran high at the tourna­ment amid fears terror could ruin the tournament that is now in the semi final stage.
