From Taiwo Oluwadare, Ibadan

The erstwhile Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Chief Adewole Ajakaye, has tasked Nigerians on revolution in his new book, Fire in My Soul, as a means to find solution to myriad of problems in the country. He made this known over the weekend during the launch of the book at the Police Officers’ Mess, Eleyele, Ibadan, Oyo State.
He said: “Everybody must be a revolutionalist though I’m not saying we should carry guns or other weapons but moral revolutionalists. The book is from my heart. All the time, I think about this country; about its successes and failures.
“Everybody must contribute his or her quotas. I am contributing my quota through this piece of poetry. The book talks about underdevelopment, tribalism and other ills of this country. We have all the blessings yet we are poor.”
In his chairman’s remark, the Agbakin of Ibadan land, Oloye Lekan Alabi, said Nigeria is a blessed country but leadership is guilty by 60 percent while followership guilty by 40 percent, saying everybody must be ready for 2019 general elections to vote in better leaders.
He said Acting President Yemi Osinbajo who is a cleric and professor recently said prayers and fasting cannot solve our problems but decisive actions:
“Meaning that we should all rise up to better the lot of the country by reducing to barest minimum all anti-social activities. The book proffers solutions to all the insecurities and other vices threatening peaceful coexistence in the society. And if we don’t take action on time, the problems will become time bomb that may consume all.”
Alabi who was Press Secretary to former Oyo State governor, late Chief Bola Ige, while the author was his Aide-de Camp, added that nobody passed through the former governor who would not inherit his virtues.
Dr. Deji Ogunwale said despite the author’s retirement from the public service, he is not tired in pursuing a lofty goal for the development of Nigeria through a practical literary approach. He said the book at this crucial period in the history of the country is a veritable outcome of his painstaking efforts as a versatile and erudite scholar towards repositioning Nigeria for a better tomorrow.
He added that no doubt the author is a rare combination of talents as an existentialist philosopher, saying his dexterity and professionalism in putting his materials together have made the book a must to be read by the target readers.
