Outgone Chief Judge of Kebbi State, Justice Ibrahim B. Mairiga, has declared that Judges in the state are free from corruption.

Justice Mairiga stated this, on Monday, while delivering his valedictory speech at the Special Court session in his honour to mark his retirement from the Judiciary.

Recalling his achievements, the retired Jurist said: “Of all the achievements made during my tenure, one stands out to be the greatest. I am proud to say that my Judges are free from corruption. They were never found wanting in the discharge of their judicial functions. I am really proud of it”

In his speech at the special court session, Kebbi State Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Barr. Ebenezer C. Oguelina lamented over decayed of structures in various Courts in the state.

He said: “More courts should be renovated and the courtrooms provided with Chairs and tables for lawyers and court staff as well as good chairs for litigants and the gallery rest rooms should be provided.

“The courts and environs should be made to impress all visitors as true hallowed sanctuaries of justice. Judges of the lower bench and lawyers on the public bar deserve a better deal in terms of salaries and other emoluments to motivate them for maximum productivity and bring them to the same economic status with their colleagues in other professions.”

Oguelina added that the Judiciary might not need to go on industrial strike if necessary things were done accordingly stressed Judges, lawyers who worked tireless to ensure justice in the country deserve best service treatment.
