The Eze Ndigbo Ghana, HRM Eze Dr Chukwudi Ihenetu has assured Ndigbo in Ghana and the Diaspora of a brighter prospect in 2021.
In a New year message, the royal father commended Ndigbo in Ghana for their patience and sacrifice despite challenge they faced due to frequent closure of their shops by the Ghana Trade Union. He said with the successful Ghanian presidential election which saw the return of President Akufo-Ado for second tenure, he was sure that everything about trade dispute with Ghanian authorities will be put to rest in 2021.
In his words, Eze Ihenetu said: “What we passed through in the hands of Ghana Trade Union in 2020 will not happen again in 2021 because the assurance has been given to us by the incoming president that he will not allow Ghana Trade Union to take laws into their hands again because the trade dispute among Nigerians and their Ghanian counterpart will be settled once and for all.”
Further more, the royal father assured Ndigbo that with positive meetings held with the president and government officials that matters on the trade issues, 2021 will be brighter for all.
On the other hand, Eze Ihenetu urges Nigerians to continue to abide by rules and regulations put in place by Ghanian government by not violating them. “When you respect the laws of the land, the host country will also reciprocate same gesture by also protecting your interest.”
He said Nigerians in Ghana should remember that despite the fact that they are blacks and that ECOWAS guaranteed free movements across the borders, they are still foreigners and as such, must obey laws made to regulate activities of foreigner in order not to face penalty and sanctions.
While wishing them happy and prosperous New Year, Eze Ihenetu assured that as the Eze overseeing affairs of Ndigbo in Ghana, he is ever ready at all times to intervene any time unfavorable laws targeted at their interest are made.
