Miffed by recent move by African leaders to spend billion of Dollars on importation   of COVID-19 vaccine from Western developed countries,  the Eze Ndigbo Ghana, HRM Dr Jude Chukwudi Ihenetu has  called on African leaders to close ranks by  developing  vaccines that will be suitable for the continent.

In an interview  granted Arise Television and monitored by Daily Sun, the royal  father explained that if given the needed support, African medical scientists have all it takes to find solutions to the dreaded pandemic.

According to Dr Ihenetu, African leaders should jointly  invest in researches to produce vaccines.
“Our government  should do the best they can to invest money in our health sector, in our researcher and our local herb producers. Sometimes we say they are witch doctors, native doctor. No, we shouldn’t be mislead by  ourselves  and the western world. rather, we  should be proud  of our local inventors.
For instance, in China, the homeopathic  doctors  practice acupuncture as well as English medicines.

If you look at their system of medication, 90 per cent  of it are sourced from herbs.”
While calling on African leaders to look inward for solutions to their problems, Eze Ihenetu said it is worrisome that most African leaders beleive much in western medicines  than our local contents. “Most African leaders never beleive  in our own production, nor our own African herbs. The mentality  of most African leaders is their  beleive in westernisation, forgetting  that 95 per cent of the contents of such medicines are chemicals  with devastating  side effects. Talking about vaccines, most African head of states are looking for ways to buy vaccines.”

Eze Ihenetu however said that all hopes are not lost as some herbal remedies  are presently undergoing  clinical tests and hoped that  African Heads of state would soon look inwards  with view to sourcing such local medicines to fight the pandemic.
