Shocked by circumstances leading to the death Sylvester Oromoni, a  12 years old student of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, in the hands of suspected  school mates, the Eze Ndigbo Ghana and the Assistant Publicity Secretary, Association of Ndieze Ndigbo in the Diaspora, HRM Eze Dr Chukwudi Ihenetu has condemned the alleged killing, describing it as unfortunate.

In a statement, HRM Dr Ihenetu described the situation as sad and prayed to God to give parents of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.

On this note, “I hereby call on proprietors, House masters, Head teachers,  and other stakeholders in the education sector to be alive to their duties. They should as a matter of facts note that the costly school fees paid by parents is a total package that should cover education, welfare and security, hence it is the duty of the school management to take care of overall welfare of the students.

“Parents pay this high fees  because they want to have rest of mind, that their children are safe in their boarding schools.

“It is sad to note that because of moral decadence and societal decay, it is very unfortunate that vices like homosexual, lesbianism, drug addiction, has crept into the schools. This strange attitude that is strange to Africa is almost destroying our society.

“Every school  management must monitor activities of their students and also, all parents should be close to their children, interact with them day in day out and know how they are faring. Parents should try to know how peers of their children are treating them in school.”

Furthermore, the Royal father who recently raised the alarm over deadly effect of Mpuru Mmiri  drugs on Nigeria youths call on the Federal Government through the ministry of education at all level, to address cases of bullying in schools.  “I also urge the Lagos State Government to follow up the matter and get to the bottom so as to avoid reocurence of similar problems in the future This measure will help restore confidence in the schools.”, he said.
