A Chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), Sen. Abubakar Girei, has said that those calling for restructuring of Nigeria were either the failed politicians or treasury looters hell bent on causing chaos and confusion in the country.

Sen. Girei, who represented Adamawa Central between 1999 and 2003 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), also said that disgruntled politicians were also behind the activities of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other security challenges across the country.

In a telephone chat with Daily Sun, the former federal lawmaker said such politicians had the financial muscles to escape abroad should the country goes up in flames as a result of their violence and divisive activities.

Said he,  “Restructuring is a political agenda of failed politicians being funded by those who looted our treasuries and are trying to escape justice by causing confusion, insecurity and chaos in the whole country.

“Also, politics, looters and failed politicians are behind IPOB and all other terrorist and security challenges we are having in the country.

“I also agreed with the position of Federal Government that IPOB is being sponsored by disgruntled and failed politicians. This is now becoming clear from the statement issued recently by the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, defending IPOB.

“And the way some political leaders from the South East are gyrating around Nnamdi Kanu is a clear evidence of political motives in backing the IPOB leader.

“We are living witnesses to a press statement issued by Professor Nwabueze after their meeting South East Governors which said that Kanu was ready to drop Biafra agitation if restructuring is embarked upon by President Buhari’s government. So you can see the hands confusion and chaos I earlier talked about, and those who are ready to set the whole country on fire”.
