The spate of unwanton destruction of properties and killing of innocent citizens, stemming from the face off between the security agents in Nigeria and the agitating group in the eastern region called  the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, has precipitated the search for Chukwu Emmanuel Izunna, a native of Azia in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State by his family.

The family raised alarm over the disappearance of their son through a media parley saying that Izunna’s whereabouts has remained unknown after a long search.

They noted that Izunna was allegedly declared wanted by the Nigerian security agents over an involvement with the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB in 2021 was not seen shortly after that.

Speaking with journalists in Awka, spokesman of the family, Eugene Chukwu said members of the family are apprehensive over the safety of Izunna.

“We are using this opportunity to draw the attention of the public about the disappearance of our brother, Emmanuel Izunna Chukwu from our country home.

“The Army had in a release signed by its Public Relations Directorate, dated September 28, 2021, said Izunna, 39 is shortlisted among others wanted for alleged involvement with the activities of IPOB,” said Eugene Chukwu.

He noted that, if Izunna is alive, the family would be sure he will say what he knows about the terrorism related charges against him, adding that, “the fact that the whereabouts of Emmanuel Izunna Chukwu is unknown, it is not even certain if he is alive. And that is the reason why we embarked on the search,” he said.

He therefore called on relevant agencies, including the international community to help in the search of Izunna Chukwu.
