From this Friday, Fan Ndubuoke, one of Nigeria’s iconic sports journalist and football administrator, will return on the pages of Daily Sun with his incisive and thought-provoking weekly column, Massive Attack.
Ndubuoke had, in his journalism heyday, maintained his Massive Attack column, first in the now rested Sportslink Newspaper and in Daily Sun.
When he moved on from sports journalism to football administration, he went on “sabbatical.” The journalist in him and the passion for sports is making him to stage a comeback. He would be “attacking massively” again on the sports page of Daily Sun every Friday.
On his return, Ndubuoke said: “It feels good to be back after some years of sabbatical. The energy is still there to carry on. Expect the usual fireworks in keeping with laid down traditions. It is obvious feathers will be ruffled along the line, but it will be devoid of personal attacks. Facts will remain sacred and comments free.”
Ndubuoke has literally seen it all when it comes to reporting sports. He has also risen to the pinnacle of football administration in the country.
Former President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ndubuoke was, until recently, the General Manager, Public Affairs, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
In 2012 and 2013, this great sports administrator led Heartland FC of Owerri to win the nation’s Federation Cup back-to-back, as chairman of the football club. It was a feat that saw the Owerri side break its 22-year old trophy jinx.
