….Prophet in trouble for administering ‘holy oil’

Stories from Emmanuel Uzor, Abakaliki

Police in Ebonyi State are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of two mad men of same parents while receiving miracle prayers  in a prayer ministry at Mile 50, Abakaliki in Ebonyi State capital.

Daily Sun gathered that the incident occurred in a popular prayer ministry (names withheld) where  three mad men of same parents were taken to by one of their brothers simply identified as Chinedu, for prayers.

It was also gathered that while the three mad men were allegedly receiving prayers in the ministry, Chinedu felt the prayers were not effective enough to heal his brothers and allegedly sought for another powerful prophet outside the church who came and administered ‘anointing oil’ on them.

An eyewitness said the prophet, after praying for the mad men, administered a substance suspected to be ‘anointing oil’ on the three mad men and left.

Thereafter,  residents woke up to see two, out of the three mad men stone dead the next morning.

However, following the confusion generated over the deaths, some residents  fled the area for fear of police arrest.

Spiritual Director of the prayer ministry, Evangelist Ephraim Ononye confirmed the incident but said his ministry was not responsible for the deaths.

He confirmed the two mad men were brought to his ministry by their relation, Chinedu for healing and after many days of prayers and deliverance, the three mad men were almost recovering when the incident happened.

He said he was at Governor David Umahi’s mother’s burial in Uburu when one of his pastors called to tell him about the death of two out of the three mad men receiving healing in his ministry and immediately came back only to be told of how a certain prophet, whom he also confirmed his arrest by the police, allegedly came into the church and administered a substance on the mad men.

Ononye, who is also the chairman of Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), further revealed that he invited the police over the incident.

He also confirmed the police has arrested Chinedu, while serious manhunt for the prophet who administered the “anointing oil” on the mad men has begun.

The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. George Okafor did not pick his calls at the time of filing this report.
