The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has felicitated with renowned lawyer and founder, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) on his 91st birthday.
Fayemi, in a goodwill message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, on Friday, described Aare Babalola as a highly revered legal icon, pace setter and philanthropist par excellence.
The Governor who described Aare Babalola as a source of pride and inspiration to Ekiti sons and daughters, said the life of the foremost lawyer remains a lesson in diligence, hard work, generosity, courage and the power of vision.
He said Aare Babalola is not only blessed by God, he has also allowed himself to be used by God to bless humanity.
Governor Fayemi who hailed the elder statesman as a man of vision, said his vision of a world class university led to the establishment of the Afe Babalola University and the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, which the Governor described as the best private university and hospital in the country.
He described Aare Babalola as a man that is ever willing to support any good course. He cited his leadership of the Ekiti State COVID-19 Response Resource Mobilisation Committee, where he is serving as Grand Patron, as one of his numerous interventions on behalf of the government and people of the state.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate our dearly beloved Baba Afe Babalola on his birthday.
“Baba’s generosity of spirit is legendary; his love for our state and its people is uncommon and his penchant for excellence remains unmatchable. Baba remains our pride in Ekiti.
“Our prayer is that God will continue to bless, keep and strengthen him so that he will continue to serve and be a source of blessing to humanity.”
