The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Abuja, has arrested over 45 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, one-chance robbers, cultists and fraudsters, recovering arms and ammunition from their hideouts.

Commissioner of Police, FCT, Mr Sunday Babaji, said: “The ‘ember months’ are here with us again. My officers are ready to face the challenges of this period.

“We have redeployed our police operatives to all strategic places and we have started raiding all the hideouts of the criminals. We don’t want to take any chance in going after the hoodlums. The FCT, Abuja, is calm and security agencies are everywhere.

“Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) arrested 15 suspected kidnappers within Kwali, Abaji and Kuje axis.

“We were able to rescue 10 victims and recovered arms and ammunition like AK-47 rifles, pump actions and 20 rounds of cartridges.

“The Rapid Response Squad (RRS), arrested 10 suspected armed robbers.

They raided Wuse, Nyanya and Maramaba axis. Those arrested included seven suspected ‘one chance’ robbers. Police recovered one dane gun, cutlasses and knives which they used as their weapons.

“RRS operatives arrested two suspected fraudsters. The suspects are under investigation.

“We have deployed operatives in Abuja/Kaduna Expressway. Some suspects who wanted to rob passengers were arrested. Weapons were recovered from them.”
