The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, said on Monday in Abuja that the Federal Government remained committed to repositioning the health sector for improved service delivery.
The minister stated that government would reposition the sector through workable national policies.
Adewole made the declaration in Benin, Edo State, at an event to mark eight years of stewardship of Prof. Michael Ibadin, the chief medical director, University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
He noted that no country could develop without a healthy work force and the best way to go was to invest in the health sector.
The minister, however, said the health sector in Nigeria would remain committed to local production of vaccines.
Adewole further said government might consider reducing the tenure of CMD’s to a single tenure to stabilise the politics associated with their appointment.
