Ahead of February 23 rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections, the Federal government has declared Friday, February 22 as public holiday, adding however, that some category of workers such as bankers, security personnel and other essential-services providers are excluded.

It enjoined the security agencies across the country in particular to continue to provide security to the citizenry.

A Ministry of Interior statement released on Wednesday said: “The Federal Government declares Friday, February 22, 2019, as work-free day. Those providing essential duties and bankers are excluded.

“The work-free day is to enable citizens return to their poling units for the reschedule Presidential and National Assembly elections. “Security agencies have been directed to ensure safety of lives and property before, during and after the general election.”
