The federal government has been called upon to make a budgetary allocation to subsidize agriculture so that the youths would have opportunity benefit from it.
National President of the Boys Brigade, Sir Sunny Nwosu made the call during the briefing on the N100 million  fund raising ceremony scheduled to hold at Ipaja Lagos on Sunday.
He said subsidization of agriculture became necessary, as it would help to tackle youth unemployment, restiveness and boost the gross domestic product (GDP) of the  country.
Nwosu also appealed to the federal government through the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development to ensure that energy and resources are pulled together at empowering Boys Brigade to moulding the Nigerian youths in a way that they will be more useful  and helpful to the country. “The Boys Brigade is 138 years old worldwide, and the first Christian voluntary organization in Nigeria. Our appeal is that the Ministry in charge should show more concern in supporting the Brigade and other youth organizations.”
He stated that the appeal for government’s support is necessary because the Boys Brigade and other voluntary organizations are doing a lot on behalf of the government. “Boys Brigade is a reputable organization. Our aim is to bring up the male children in the way of Jesus Christ. You hardly see them participate in any illegal thing.”
Nwosu who stated that it takes enough fund to bring up children and make them useful to their families and the society, informed that the One Hundred Million naira fund would be used to expand the property newly acquired by the Boys Brigade at Abuja. “We have the intention to build school there, but were told by the authorities that we cannot build school there. The land is now being threatened and there is need for us to take full physical possession of it . That is the reason we decided to develop it to an extent.”
