Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, has charged automobile companies to create an enabling environment for indigenous inventors to market their innovation in the automobile industry. 

Onu, who gave the charge at the 19th edition of Abuja International Motor Fair, implored automobile companies to ensure their components and spare parts are made by Nigerian inventors.
The minister insisted that foreign companies assembling automobiles in Nigeria must abide by Executive Order 5.

“We have quite a number of companies producing motors parts in the country, which we have mentioned to these automobile companies. It is their responsibility to help grow these companies. That is the way these big automobile companies operate in major countries; they help the small companies to grow by guaranteeing them that they will buy their parts.”

Onu told representatives of GAC Motors, Toyota Motors, Mitsubishi Motors and TATA Motors, among others at the event, to deem it fit to create employment opportunities for teeming youths.
