BSO Mega System Computer, an information and communication technology (ICT) consultancy firm is to organize ICT trainings for secondary school students in Lagos State.
The training is meant to acquaint the students with in-depth knowledge of ICT beyond the popular social media engagements such as Facebook, Whatsapp and others, which many of the students have become addicted to at the detriment of the core ICT knowledge, which they can master for self-development.
The trainings, which will commence in June and run throughout the long holiday, will be purely practical rather than theoretical that many schools are used to because of lack of adequate facilities.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BSO Mega System Computer, Engineer Bello Dada Obashua, the workshops/seminars are imperative because in the contemporary world, ICT has become an integral part of human existence.
He noted that with the introduction of computer-based examinations by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and other professional bodies as well as the demand for ICT knowledge for prospective job seekers, the workshops/ seminars would be able to equip the students for the challenges ahead.
“ICT has impacted on every aspect of our lives; from working to socializing, learning to playing. In fact ICT has become even embedded in our culture, so we must provide the students with relevant and contemporary experiences that will allow them to be successfully engaged,” he said.
He added that the programmes that students would be exposed to during the workshops would include computer-based examination technology, data processing, networking, web designing, internet technology, video and picture editing among others and participants would be issued certificates at the end of the workshops.
The workshops and seminars which are being organized in partnership with Vienie Communications, a media consultancy, printing and branding firm, would be so flexible that the duration would be determined by each participating school.
