Five days after the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, there is tension in Plateau North Senatorial District over the delay in the announcement of election results for the zone and Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency.

Daily Sun gathered that political groups in support of the two leading parties (APC and PDP) are protesting that the result has been tempared with.

APC supporters the district are not celebrating President Muhammadu Buhari”s reelection because results of the senatorial election have not been announced.

National Chairman of Concerned Nigerian Citizens Engr Ahmed Hassan said that they will not accept any result that does not favour Hon. Rufus Bature, APC Senatorial candidate, Plateau North and Alh. Haruna Maitala, APC candidate for House of Representatives.

He said they will not accept a doctored result from INEC and called on INEC National Chairman Mahmood  Yakubu to order Plateau INEC to release the results.

“The delay in the announcement of the result gives room for suspicion. We believe that something is going on and anyone who tampers with the election result for Plateau North will not be accepted; we already have the result,” he said.

“The election was very peaceful and results of the Presidential election and National Assembly election have been announced except that of the Plateau North,  and we don’t know why the result is being delayed.”

Chairman, Concerned Nigerian Citizens, Plateau North, Comrade Mohammed Bashir Mohammed, alleges that INEC has doctored the results.

He urged the commission to announce the result as it is and that whoever is aggriaved should contest it in court.

“We don’t know what is delaying the result. We are disturbed over the action of INEC, we will not accept the manipulation of this result. We need our result out today. We are seriously concerned over the delay in the announcement of this result,” he complained.

Meanwhile, PDP supporters in Tudun-Wada/Kabong Federal Ward, in which election results were cancelled said their votes must be included in the overall count before the announcement.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC Plateau State, Mallam Husseini Halilu Pai, has reconvened a meeting of political parties and security with a view to resolving the issues and announce the eldction result.
