Flood has taken over two local government areas of lsoko in Delta State.

It was gathered that towns  like lgbide, where General Paul Omu hails from, and Uzere, where General Alex Ogomudua hails from, as well as Araya, where late Chief Abel Ubeku and mother of Senator James Manager hail from, have all been submerged.

The communities have been cut off from the cities because there are no access roads due to the flood that has covered the roads. In Araya, canoes and engine boats are the only means of transportation for the few people yet to be evacuated.

The state and local governments have allegedly abandoned the people. Even the IDP camps created by Isoko South Local Government Area chairman, Hon. Asasa, have no mosquitoes nets. Food is also not provided.

Secretary of Araya community, Mr. Daniel Ubuhefe, lamented that there was little or no help from the state and local government. He claimed that, “Rather, some prominent individuals are responding to the yearnings of our people. ”

He urged the federal and state governments to come to the aid of lsoko people, especially Araya.

He said: “All farmlands, yam and cassava farms have been submerged. No food for our people. There is serious hunger.”

He said that Araya was where the Bible fell on from heaven in 1914. The spot which is now submerged is a tourist/prayer centre. The Bible, he said, was believed to have been smuggled to United Kingdom by the missionaries.
