Acclaimed poet and financial consultant, Wisdom Oteri Dafinone has received accolades for his three poetry collections which were presented on Thursday 21st of November in Lagos.

The commendations came at the public presentation and launching of three poetry collections titled Ode to Inamorata, Nature Travelogue and Contemplations: Faith, Hope, Dirges and other poems

The chairman of the occasion, Prof O Ibidapo Obe poured encomiums on Dafinone for penning the three poetry collections and contributing his quota to the Nigerian literary landscape.

Chairman of the momentous occasion, Sir Chief Bode Akindele who was represented by Chief Olu Falomo, commended the poet and author for dedicating of the poems to the late Dr Ameyo Adadevoh,who curbed a wider spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria. Which was achieved by placing the patient zero, Patrick Sawyer, in quarantine despite pressures from the Liberian government.

According to him:”My only appeal is stop asking anybody to honour her.She doesn’t need national honours, she has already gotten national honours. You don’t beg for honours, It comes naturally.This was a Nigerian professional who sacrificed her life for the sake of her nation. The honour is there naturally”.

Undoubtedly the high-point of the book launch was the impeccable review done by Dr Solomon O Azurumana of the Department of English, University of Lagos.

According to him:“Dafinone, like a professional artist, dexterously employs words to recreate his contemporary world using universal imageries and symbolisms. The poet’s passionate commitment to love and family is evident in his poems.

“The poems exhibit versatility of ideas, in-depth knowledge of subjects and a good mastery of language and literary resources. The accompanying pictures corroborate the poet’s positions and animate his representations. They also intensify the aesthetic value of the text and enhance comprehension of ideas and positions presented in the texts”.
