Following the victory of Enugu Ranger Football Club on Wednesday at Stephen Keshi Stadium by lifting the 2018 Aiteo Federation Cup after thirty Four years,  football enthusiasts in Nsukka town have attributed  it to Gov ifeanyi Ugwuanyi unflinching support to the team.

The football enthusiasts in different interview with Daily Sun in Nsukka on Thursday said that since the governor assumed office,  he had ensured that the club was provided with all it needed to excel in football both morally and financially.

Chief Patrick Omeje the Executive chairman of Nsukka Local Government, who mobilized supporters from Nsukka to cheer the team to victory at the Asaba stadium said his joy knew no bound as Rangers FC had broken the thirty Four years jinx of the state not winning the Cup.

“What Rangers did on Wednesday after defeating Kano Pillars 4-2 on penalties when they played 3-3 in regulation times is historic.

“To me the man behind this victory is Gov Ugwunayi who since assumption of office as governor has given the club maximum support and attention.

“The people of Enugu state should dedicate this victory to the governor who has achieved what other governors in past could not achieve,” he said.

Mr Francis Akubue, a sport presenter with Radio Nigeria Voice Fm, Nsukka commended the governor, Rangers management, the players and the supports of the team all over the world for doing
the people of the state proud.

“I’m happy that Rangers has won the competition since it was renamed Aiteo Cup.

“As commend the governor on this historic achievement in sports,  I urge him to keep it up so that the club will continue  to move from strength to strength while  his administration lasts.

“With this victory, the governor has once again shown himself as the governor of the people and residents of the state will continue to give him maximum support,’’ he said.

Mr. Emmanuel Ezema, a trader at Ogige Main Market, Nsukka said the victory of Ranger was historic given the fact that this trophy had eluded the state for over there decade.

“The lifting of the trophy had rekindled more hope and confidence of football lovers in the state in the club.

“I commend the management and players of Rangers for their commitment and resilience that made the victory possible.

“I salute the governor of the state for his exceptional support and motivation to the management and players that move them to break the Aiteo Cup  jinx of wining the trophy in the state again,” ‘he said
