Last Saturday, we remembered our departed Pastor Danjuma Tafawa Balewa who went to meet the Lord a year ago in the wake of the global epidemic.  We had a memorial service at RCCG Cornerstone Parish, 126 Okota Road, Lagos.  It was attended by powerful men of God.  As a reporter, I recorded the powerful prayer of Pastor Mrs Deola Mensah which I bring you, praying that it will bless you:

Father we have returned this night to give you glory, to give you grace.  Who can separate the Danjuma family from the love of God?  It can’t be death, it can’t be sickness, it can’t be failure.  God you have been faithful to us, you have been good to us, you have been kind to us.  We have come to say thank you.  Thank you for faithfulness.  Thank you for protection.  Thank you for support.  Thank you for wisdom.  Thank you for your kindness.

In the last one year, what we thought could never happen to us, happened.  But Lord, you stood by us.  You wiped away our tears.  You embraced us.  You comforted us.  You consoled us.  You raised brothers for us. You raised fathers and mothers for us. You raised helpers for us.  You proved to the Tafawa Balewa Danjuma family that they are not alone.  You are just like a mighty warrior.  The One who fights our battles. The One who conquers for us.  You are the one that we praise today.  Thank you for accepting your son into heaven. Now, we have a firm assurance that our brother, father, grandfather, helper, pastor is with you in heaven.  Lord we are so grateful to you. Thank you for what you used him for. Lord, this building is good but we are not thanking you for the building. We are thanking you for the lives that it impacted.  We are thanking you for the many souls that came into the Kingdom.  We are thanking you for the men and women that he raised and mentored.  We are thanking you for the testimonies concerning his life.  To you alone be the glory and the honour of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Therefore Father, we are committing the future into your hands. We know the one who owns the future.  We know the one who controls the future. We know the one who has us in the palms of his hands. Therefore Father, every good thing, every concept, every purpose, my Father, for his family, let it be established in the mighty name of Jesus. Lord in Jeremiah 29:11, you said: “I know the thoughts that I have towards you.  Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you peace, to give you an expected end, to give you a glorious future.”  Let that be the testimony of this family in the mighty name of Jesus.

Pastor Vera, we speak to you. You will not be put to shame.  You will not be disappointed.  You will not wear rags.  In the name of Jesus.  God has made you a rallying point. Father, for this family, we silence the scourge of tongues.  Every tongue that is used against this family, we silence them by the precious blood of the eternal Covenant.  We are declaring today that no weapon fashioned against you will prosper.  Whether in heavens, whether on earth, whether in the air, whether on land, it would not prosper in the name of Jesus.  By the precious blood of Jesus, for you and you children and grandchildren, we secure the perimeter of your life.  And we say: “Satan, keep off!  Disease, keep off!  Failure, keep off!  Fear, keep off!  Disunity, keep off!  In the name of Jesus.  You will see angelic assistance.  You will see angelic protection.  When it’s time for the boys to marry, they would not marry amiss.  They would not marry Jezebel.  In the name of Jesus.  When it’s time for the ladies to marry, they would marry Godly men.  This family shall continue to give glory and honour to God.  The Tafawa Balewa family will continue to make Jesus proud. In Jesus mighty name.  Thank you for Cornerstone Church, thank you for what you have done, thank you for restoration, thank you for a new beginning.  Lord we give you the glory.  Lord we give you the praise.  In Jesus mighty name we have prayed.  Amen!
