The Continental Computers Foundation has donated a female medical ward to the Katsina General Hospital, named after late Hajiya Mariya Idris Masari, mother of Governor Aminu Bello Masari.

Speaking at the unveiling of the 24-bed facility which is equipped with modern facilities, Chairman of the Foundation, Alhaji Salisu Mamman Kadandani, said the gesture was part of initiatives by his group, “to channel part of our business profits to projects that benefit the larger community thereby complementing efforts of government.

“I wish to restate my readiness to continue to support the sustainability of this facility and respond positively whenever called upon to assist, in case of any serious problems or emergency occurring at the facility.”

Commissioning the project, the Governor paid glowing tribute to her mother recalling how the widow struggled to sustain the family after the death of their father.

According to Masari, “I lost my father when I was only two years old and my mother decided not to remarry because of my elder brother, Alhaji Bello, and me.

“Our father was the village head of our community at the time and what we have become today is entirely the efforts of my late mother.

“Incidentally, she was operated upon in this hospital in 1959 when she had appendicitis.

“When I was Commissioner, I brought her to this place but she said she could not remember if it was the same hospital where she was operated upon.”
