The Governing Council of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has appointed the immediate past Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Sokoto State University, Sokoto,(UDUS), Professor Muhammad Zaiyan Umar as the new Vice- Chancellor of the university. Umar takes over from the outgoing Vice- Chancellor, Professor Bello Bala Shehu, whose tenure of five years will end on December 3 2022. Pro-Chancellor and Chairperson of the Governing Council of the University, Professor Funmi Togonu-Bickersteth announced the appointment of the new Vice- Chancellor while briefing newsmen after the Council’s 25th meeting held in the institution.
She said the approval was sequel to the advertisement in the national dailies and subsequent interview by the Governing Council.
Umar, a Professor of Political Science at the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto(UDUS), was born on June 12,1963 and has three decades of professional and administrative experience.
