The Federal University, Gusau (FUGUS), Zamfara State  has matriculated 1, 666 newly admitted students for the 2016/2017 academic session.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Magaji Garba, tasked the new students to shun negative tendencies which could bring disrepute to the institution which he said is free of social vices such as cultism and drug abuse.

Garba congratulated the new students for being lucky to secure admission into the University, adding that many students applied for admission into the University but could not make it.

He then urged the newly matriculated students to be of good behavior, conduct themselves in the best possible manner in order to ensure that peace was sustained in the University.

The Vice Chancellor said that the University had three set of students for 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017 academic session and it would soon be facing both institutional and programme accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Prof.  Garba further said that the University had also secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to establish Faculty of Mining Engineering and Institute of Mining Engineering, stressing that these achievements were great ones for they would service and break new grounds for Zamfara State in mining related economic activities.
