• Offer relief to victims
By Emma Njoku
Enugu State indigenes in United Kingdom, under the aegis of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Support
Group (GUISG), have totally condemned recent killings in Nimbo.
The group also urged President Muhammadu Buhari
to take proactive steps to stem the menace of rampaging Fulani herdsmen in the state and other parts of the country.
The message was contained in a communique issued by the GUISG after its emergency meeting in the United Kingdom, signed by the co-ordinator, Sir Anterus Chikaobi Ezeh .
It commended the efforts of Governor Ugwuanyi for “the realistic manner with which he managed the crisis and the proactive measures he has put in place to forestall the tendencies of
criminals/terrorists operating under the umbrella of Fulani herdsmen in Enugu State and other parts of the country.”
The group warned that failure to stem the senseless killings by the Fulani herdsmen “will leave people with no other option than to invoke the doctrine of necessity in form of self-defence. We, Enugu
State indigenes, are peace loving and accommodating, but this must not be misconstrued to mean weakness.
“We commend His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s response to the Nimbo
Killings, particularly, the manner he realistically managed the crisis well and for taking proactive steps to forestall future occurrence,” the communiqué read.
“We thank all Nigerians from different political, religious and ethnic background that clearly condemned this evil act in Enugu State and pray that voice of reason will prevail against the urge for violence in Nigeria.
“Consequently, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Support Group UK has mandated its crisis management team led by the Duke Chidi Nwafor to immediately get in touch with SPA on Diaspora in the person of Mrs Olangwa, to deliver relief materials to victims of the Nimbo killings. The team has also been mandated to appraise the situation on ground and report back for further action,” Eze said.
