The Advanced Engineering Innovation Research Group of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, has invented 3D printing machine capable of constructing objects in three dimensions.
Making this known in an interview with Campus Sun, recently, one of the inventors, Yinka Adedigba, said that the 3D printer was invented to facilitate construction using the right computer software as well as faliment. He described faliment as an important facility used in printing any designed work done on the computer system using 3D printer.
“3D printer has the capacity to print anything humanly visible, be it iron, wood, mental all you need is the right faliment to enable you print your work after you must have designed it on the computer using the appropriate software,” he said.
According to another member of the group, Engineer. Gregory Ahunwoa, the 3D printing machine would help in construction and fabrication with ease, adding that the printer will enable students in mechanical engineering and architecture departments tocarry out their print-work easily.
“As a student of architecture, for instance, you can construct your model on the computer using the right faliment and print it using the 3D printer exactly the way it is on the system,” he said. “The machine will enable the university print out souvenirs with the institution logo on it during occasions like convocation and matriculation ceremony without contracting the job out.”
In another development, the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna have constructed a functional radio station. This was donated and become commissioned for operation by Dr. Muhammed Babangida during the 26th convocation ceremony held recently at the university.
During the occasion, honorary Doctorate of Technology (D.Tech), were conferred on Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, (Etsu Nupe), Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar (Emir of Gombe) and Prof. Akinlawon Ladipo Mabogunje, respectively. In an interview with Campus Sun, the President, Students Union Government (SUG), of FUT Minna, Lateef Hamzard a.k.a. PASSWORD, expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and the management of the institution for their efforts towards accomplishing the FM. radio project, adding that its commissioning will aid efficient delivery of information across the region.
