All top-rated artistes who converged on Akure, the capital of Ondo State during the Globacom-sponsored nationwide Mega Music Show held last Saturday, gave five star performances.

Many of those who graced Golden Events Centre, Akure, venue of the show, said it was the biggest musical concert ever held in the city in recent times.

Phyno, Timaya, Yemi Alade, Runtown, Korede Bello and Olamide were the stars of the day, and they were simply magical, as they mesmerised the star-struck audience. Phyno was an improved version of himself during his over 30 minutes on stage. The audience, made up of the young and the young-at-heart, enthusiastically joined his sterling performance by singing every line along with him. His chartbusters like Connect, Alobam, Ezege, and Fada Fada were instant hits with the crowd.

The Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya, also showed a lot of class and justified his inclusion on the A-list of Nigerian artistes. He also justified why Globacom took him on the tour. At the end of the day, Timaya took the Ondo people on a musical and philosophical experience they would not forget in a long time.

On his part, Olamide showed why he was called the ‘King of the Streets’. He took the concert back to the streets and engaged the youths with their own language, meeting them on their own turf.

MTV Award winner, Yemi Alade, connected in a very special way with the people when she announced to the delight of the audience: “I am your daughter and your sister and I am delighted coming to my roots, and I thank Globacom once again for this opportunity to see my people; I love you all”.

Alade revealed that she’s an indigene of Ondo State and praised Globacom for bringing her back home. “I am happy that Glo brought me back home. If my daddy were to be alive today, he would be happy that his daughter is back home,” she enthused.

By the end of the evening, the fans went home drenched and still relishing the energy and fun of the concert. Actresses Uche Jombo and Juliet Ibrahim were the Masters of Ceremony, while the most celebrated Yoruba movie star, Odunlade Adekola, made celebrity guest appearance.
