Ahead of the raining season expected to commence in two months, Gombe State Commisisoner for Environment, Hajiya Sa’adatu Sa’ad, has warned residents against blocking waterways

The warning, which was contained in a statement, urged residents to embark on community services by cleaning and clearing drainages in their domains.

“There is every need for our people to complement efforts of the government towards ensuring safer environment by making sure that drainages in their domain are clean and cleared,” she said.

The commissioner also tasked the communities and residents to be at alert, in case of flooding eventualities.

“I want our people to be ready and at alert during the raining season, because the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a warning on this year’s raining season,” Sa’adat concluded.
