The Gombe State chapter of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) has declared support and offered to campaign for the candidature of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who seeking reelection under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

According to the union, Governor Yahaya is the politician that appears to understand and has the union at heart. This was revealed by the vice chairman of the NLC Muhammad Bappayo Abdulmumin.

The vice chairman who stated this while speaking at a press conference on Monday in Gombe disclosed that the union has enough reasons to commend and appreciate the state governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He appreciated the governor for the promotion of 26, 085 workers in the Local Government Area (LGA), Local Education Authority (LEA), and the Primary Health Care (PHC) in the state. He said, “for us the NLC we can not go beyond appreciating the governor because the issue of promotion is an issue we have been clamoring for over a decade, the payment of N1.3 billion to local government retirees is another tremendous achievement”.

“The governor has said it and I have no doubt in my mind that if he returns as governor by the 2023 election he will implement the payment of N30,000 minimum wage at the local government level. It is now our duty to engage and inform our workers of these achievements. The N30,000 minimum wage that Gombe state has paid and sustained, is a clear indication.

The appointment of over 100 directors and of course the appointment of permanent secretaries is also an achievement as far as the civil service of Gombe state is concerned. We appreciate all the gestures that the governor has accorded to the labor, it is our duty to inform workers in the state and perhaps in so doing we might engage you to finance some of our activities and projects because you know labor kobo less.

“If you can finance us, we can go out to media and other means of spreading the message and canvas and I assure you that we will do the needful because the governor is somebody that understands the labor and has us at heart,” said the vice chairman.
