The Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), has called on government at all levels to enlist the services of Nigeria professionals to achieve faster economic development.
Chairman of the Association, Lagos chapter, Abayomi Ogunjimi, who made the call, noted that government at national and sub-national are not doing enough in that respect.
Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of the chapter, Ogunjimi said the association would like government to look in wards . “The APBN boasts of arrays of qualified professionals, that can rub shoulders with their peers anywhere in the world and we are very ready for national assignments.” He said.
The chairman also urged stakeholders in the Nigerian project to ensure that peace reigns in the country as this is the election season where many things happen.
“While we acknowledge the rights of every Nigerian to agitate, we however believe that agitation that would heat up the polity can never be in the interest of the nation.”
The professionals’ body called on the government to address the economic trend, which he said was not encouraging, indicting corruption and unethical practices in governance to help promote national development.
Referencing several collapsed buildings cases in the country, the body noted that government was trying to domesticate the building code, which mean ones that is achieved, the code will guide every activity in the building sector to correct anomalies causing collapses.
